When I accepted the job at Ibex after responding to the craigslist ad requiring a willingness to thrive in a dog-friendly atmosphere, I knew I would be entering an environment filled with dog lovers but didn’t know it would be an environment comprised of such like-minded outdoor enthusiasts. I had no idea I would be entering a community that would provide me the opportunity to flourish and grow as a hiker and as a person. I was still quiet and shy. Especially in the beginning when I was still trying to find my comfort zone with people. I just assumed I would continue my standard hiking alone with just my best friend Vaida by my side. Within the first few weeks of working at Ibex, coworkers started to catch on to just how avid a hiker I was and how adventurous Vaida and I were. I could no longer hide alone in the aisles of the warehouse or out on the trail. My coworkers wanted to hear about our adventures. The more Vaida and I did, the more people wanted to hear about it. Most of the folks working there had stories to tell after their weekends, but soon Vaida and I were expected to have stories to tell after our weekends too. We became the hikers. Gaining this notoriety afforded us the opportunity to be featured in a variety of videos and articles.
