vaida was a lab / newfoundland mix adopted through golden huggs rescue of vermont in june of 2009. she quickly became my best friend, sidekick and adventure partner.
vaida was known not only for her hiking achievements, but her unique style.
she wore a wide bright red collar made by cycle dog with one of a kind ribbon sewn customization by my mom. she didn’t wear jingly tags but instead had a personalized engraved brass tag riveted to her collar.
vaida’s collar was adorned by a handcrafted clay hop charm made by mags bonham of vermont.
when vaida was on overnight backpacking adventures she had her own custom fitted harness and saddlebag pack made by groundbird gear. vaida was one of the company’s first customers and soon became an ambassador and member of the covey. her pack had a custom color scheme of red, orange and blue. over the years these colors became known amongst friends and family members as “vaida colors”.
accompanying all of vaida’s other unique accessories was a leash that i handmade out of recycled climbing rope.
